Music Reflection - 23rd May 2011, Monday

Today was the assessment day of performing my own melody. Unfortunately, I couldn't memorize my melody completly, because the (B) part was hard. If I practiced more, I'm sure I could have memorized the (B) part too, but since I only memorized the (A) part, I just saw my composition. I don't think I can get a full mark for this assessment, but I didn't really have mistakes so I hope I can at least get a high mark.

Music Reflection - 19th May 2011, Thursday

Today, for the last time, everyone in our class played our melody infront of the class during the theory class. I didn't have mistakes at all, but I didn't memorize it yet, because my melody is quite complicated. And I realized that I have to practice more to memorize the song. I hope I can memorize the melody until the assessment day.

Music Reflection - 16th May 2011, Monday

Since we're done with our written assessment, all we needed to prepare was our assessment, performing on our own melody with instruments. Actually our assessment was supposed to be this thursday, but then we didn't have much time to practice, so it has been posponed to next monday. Now, I have more time to practice, so I'm going to memorize my melody when I perform on the assessment day.

Music Reflection - 12th May 2011, Thursday

Today we didn't have instrument class, because we had a writtem assessment about 'John Williams'. I think I did well with my test because I studied a lot, and it was easier to memorize the information, and it was lesser than the written test we did last term. I think I can get a good score for the written test this term.

Music Reflection - 9th May 2011, Monday

Since this thursday is our written assessment about 'John Williams', today, we studied together about him, by reading it and trying to talk about him infront of the class without looking at the paper. It really helped me because the information was not much, and we read it again and again, so I just needed to study some part by myself.

Music Reflection - 5th May 2011, Thursday

Today in music theory class, we tried to play our own composition with our instruments. However violin students didn't play in theory class, because we didn't have enough time. So the violin students played their composition in instrument class. When I tried playing my melody, it was little bit awkward, because the song was composed by myself. But it was easier to play than the songs composed by famous musicians, because it's my own melody.

Music Reflection - 2nd May 2011, Monday

During the week ends, I converted my melody in 'Finale'. But I had a problem with Finale because I couldn't print it unless I bought the real Final software. Since I just copied the icon from my teacher's computer, it was impossible for me to print it. So I saved it in my usb, and today in music theory class, I copied my work into my teacher's computer, so that he can print it for me.

Music Reflection - 28th April 2011, Thursday

Today, actually we had to submit the hardcopy of our composition that's converted in Finale, but since Mr.Sadrakh was absent last session, the submission day has posponed until next monday. I also forgot about it, so I have to work with that during the week ends.

Music Reflection - 25th April 2011, Monday

Mr.Sadrakh was absent today, so for our theory class, Mr.Herry replaced Mr.Sadrakh. Today, Mr.Herry gave us a paper that has the schedule of our music assessments in term 4. Then, he distributed a worksheet that contained some information about 'John Williams'. There was his biography, and his famous compositions in movies and orchestras. Mr.Herry said that this is going to be our written test in term 4, so we read about him together, and at the end, we wrote a short summary about him. 
 

Music Reflection - 18th April 2011, Monday

Since almost everyone in our class finished with their final composition, today we learned how to convert it to computer. We needed 'Finale 2009' to convert our melody, so I either had to borrow the 'Finale' from my friends, or download it from my computer. But I decided to save the icon from my teacher's computer to my usb, so that I can move it to my computer. Fortunately, I brought my usb today, so I copied the icon after school.

Music Reflection - 14th April 2011, Thursday

As I said in the last reflection, I totally changed my melody. It took quite a long time to finish it, because for each bar, I had to try playing with piano, and then edit them again, if there's some part that sounded weird. Anyways at last, I finished my composition with a new melody. I was satisfied with my composition now, so I decided to use this melody for my assessment. Today, my teacher did the final check of our composition, and I didn't have any mistakes at all. :)

Music Reflection - 11th April 2011, monday

Last week, we had another homework. This time, we had to finish the 32-bars melody, by composing another 16-bars. It was again a hard work, yet when I finished it, it was not that bad. This was the first time for me to compose a 32-bars music, so it was a great challenge for me. I had some mistakes in drawing some notes, so my teacher checked each and every one of our melodies, and tried to play some of our composition with piano. My friend's melody was really nice unlike mine, so I wanted to edit some part that sounded weird. So until next meeting, I'm going to redo my composition for the last time.

Music Reflection - 7th April 2011, Thursday

Last time, we had a homework from the music theory class. Our homework was to try to continue our melody until 16-bars. Today, our teacher checked our melody, and marked those who didn't do their homework. I tried to continue composing my melody at home, but it didn't work well. Even though I tried playing it with piano, it was boring. At the end I finished composing 16-bars, but I was still not satisfied with my melody, because it didn't sound nice at all.

Music Reflection - 4th April 2011, Monday

Today was the first day of Term 4. And of course it was the first day of music. We didn't do much today, but we only discussed that we're going to compose our own 32-bars melody in the form of (AABA) in term 4. We tried to compose the first 8 bars by ourself with a repetition, which is the form of the first (A) part. Making the (A) part wasn't hard because we just had to repeat the notes we made in the first 4 bars to the next 4 bars. But the hard part was that we had to compose our own music. It was the first time for me to experience composing my own melody, so it was weird and uncatchy, but at least I learned how to compose a melody. :)

Music Reflection - 17th March 2011, Thursday

Today was the last day of our music class for this term! I was happy with it because I couldn't wait to rest for the 1 week break. :P
During the theory class, we reviwed what we've learned and also previewed what we're going to learn next term. While discussing what we're going to learn next term, I got excited because we'll do a lot fun things in term 4. 
Even though it was the last day for music class in term 3, I was not sad since we also have music class in term 4, so it enjoyed the last music session for this term, and also laughed for the whole session, like what we always do in our music class :D

Music Reflection - 14th March 2011, Monday

Today mr.Sadrakh told us our score and I got 8!!! :D I was little bit shocked because I thought I did bad for my assessment. But then Derian and I played 'can can' together to get more score, and now my score is 8.5-_- 
But still I gained 0.5 to sum up with my original score, so I was very happy.
Some other people also took the re-test and gained more score like me and Derian. So today, all we did was playing our instrument and laughing because of students who plays their instrument in a funny position :P
Anyways, I enjoyed today's music theory class very much (:

Music Reflection - 10th March 2011, Thursday

Today we had our last assessment for this term. I was the last one to play my violin, so it made me more nervous. As a result, I got many mistakes and I don't think I can get a good score for this assessment. T-T I was quite upset because I practised for very long time from 2 weeks before the assessment. But anyways, I'm just going to wait for my result and be happy with it :D

Music Reflection - 7th March 2011, Monday

Today was the last day for us to practise our song. I practised a lot, but mr.Sadrakh didn't ask the violin students to play infront of the class, since we didn't have much time for all of us to play. However, I'm still going to practise more at my house, to get a good score and of course to improve playing violin.. Nothing much really happened today, because we just practised, and laughed, and shared our jokes. Especially mr.Sadrakh made all of us laugh for several times.. :}

Music Reflection - 3rd March 2011, Thursday

Today, finally Kimberly started attending the class. And I can say that everyone tried to help her and greet her whenever we meet her, so that she doesn't feel lonely that much.
Anyways, today we tried to play the song that we chose for our assessment next week. I think everyone did well except for some students who I can also see that they didn't practise at home. 
I chose the first song from suzuki no.4. It was quite long, so I decided to do the last page only. Since the song is still hard for me to play, I'm going to start practising today at my house in the afternoon. :D

Music Reflection - 28th February 2011, Monday

Today, we didn't do anything at all. All we did was discussing about our friend Kimberly.
The conversation started when mr.Sadrakh checked our attendence. And when it went to kimberly's turn, no one answered because she was absent. When mr.Sadrakh asked us what happened, we told him that actually she's in school right now, but she's not attending the class. Then our SLC, Karisa started explained what's happening to Kimberly. And she said that she came from another part of Indonesia, and since she's a new student, she was not good in speaking english, and she couldn't enjoy her school life because she miss her hometown. And she doesn't really talk to us, so to be true, she's actually very lonely. In the middle of the conversation, Karisa started crying because she felt bad for her, and a lot of people also showed their tears from their eyes, including me, because we all felt bad for her. Mr.Sadrakh also discussed about this problem, and he wanted us to give some suggestions about it. Eventually, all of us promised to talk to her more, and help her if she doesn't understand anything, and be more close to her so that she can get used to our environment as soon as possible. :'(

Music Reflection - 24th February 2011, Thursday

Today mr.Sadrakh informed us that we're going to have another assessment on March 10th. The assessment is about playing a classical music with our instruments. I haven't chose my song but probably I'm going to choose the 1st song from suzuki no.4, which I'm learning right now. 
Other than that, we kept on reviewing and reviewing for the scales. Mr.Sadrakh gave all of us a simple question about scales, and if we can't answer it properly, we had to study again and again. However mr.Sadrakh didn't ask me much questions than he does to others, so I just tried to answer my friends question in my mind. Anyways, I think all of us had fun today in our music class...

Music Reflection - 21th February 2011, Monday

Today we had a lot of fun. All we did in music theory class was just reviewing about scales, but we laughed during the whole class, and also learned more about scales. First of all, we learned more scales. We learned 4th, and the 5th sharp scales. It was not a hard work to understand them, because I already knew the theory and the concept about the scales. However, some boys were punished because they said that they studied about scales at home, but when Mr.Sadrakh asked them a very simple question for each, they couldn't answer, or they said the wrong answer. Anyways, I had a lot of fun today in music theory class. :)

Music Reflection - 17th February 2011, Thursday

Today, we reviewed natural scale, and learned some more scales. We learned the 1 sharp scale to 3 sharp scale. And we also had a simple quiz from mr.Sardrakh so that all of us can memorize the 1 sharp scled to 3 sharp scale, and of course the natural scale too. At first it was kind of confusing and I had some mistakes. However, we repeated again and again by giving a simple questions about scales, I finally understood everything and also memorized them too.

Music Reflection - 14th February 2011, Monday

Today we had an assessment about 'classical music periods'. The night before the test, and from the week before that, I memorised and understood about music in the past. However, during the assessment, I forgot some part, and the time was too short to write the whole essay about it, so I had to write very short for the last topic and the conclusion. After when mr.Sadrakh collected all papers, he called some students who really need to do re-test, because there answers in the assessment test was very short. So he gave time to copy the answers from the handout. I also wanted to fill more words, but mr.Sadrakh said I don't need to since I filled 2 pages, so I didn't got a chance to do the re-test.

Music Reflection - 7th February 2011, Monday

Today in our music theory class, we read the 'Classical Music Periods' worksheet until we fully understand them and that we can memorize the names easily. It was little bit bored but it helped me on understand the reading passage. The test is delayed to next monday because of the ISA test, so I'm going to study hard for my written test Assessment.

Music Reflection - 31th January 2011, Monday

Today we spent most of our time in music theory. We did our re-test for solo singing, but I didn't need to take the re-test since I got 10 last week. When the re-test was done, me, Karisa, Rila, Dami, Vira, Derian, Rana, Nadya, Dheanna and Alicia was called to sing 'My favorite Things' together as a choir. It was very tiring since Mr. Sadrakh wnated us to sing very high >:O. Then, we read about classical music periods to practice for our written assessment.

Music Reflection - 27th January 2011, Thursday

Today we did our solo singing assessment in our music theory class. All of us sang the song called 'My favorite things' which describes the favorites things of the composer. According to the lyrics, I think it means when we're sad, we think of our favorite things which will make us feel better. In my opinion, I think I did good, but next time I'm going to practice more and be more confident.

Music Reflection - 24th January 2011, Monday

Today in music theory class, we learned about 'Intervals'. It was harder than the Natural Scales so the whole class had to repeat practicing it. It was also little bit confusing to me so I had a bit of mistakes. Especially for sharp and flat, I had to think for a while. However, the class was fun and I enjoyed it :)

Music Reflection - 20th January 2011, Thursday

  Today in music theory cloass, we first learned about 'Natural Scale". We learned that there are 8 scales, and that they all have different notes. And them, we learned how to sing our new song called "My Favorite Things". We are going to have our solo singing assessment next week so I have to memorize the lyrics.
